Itinerary
Day 1 Sunday – Johannesburg
Welcome to South Africa! Upon arrival at the airport in Johannesburg, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for overnight.
Day 2 Monday – Pretoria / Mpumalanga
Begin your day with a drive to Pretoria, South Africa's capital, for a short panoramic tour. Continue to Mpumalanga. The Drakensberg Escarpment divides Mpumalanga into a westerly half consisting mainly of high-altitude grassland called the Highveld and an eastern half situated in low-altitude subtropical Lowveld, mostly savanna habitat. Arrive at your hotel and enjoy some time at leisure. (B)
Day 3 Tuesday – Mpumalanga / Panorama Route
After breakfast, take the scenic Panorama Route for breathtaking views of plunging waterfalls, lush forestry and eagles flying above you. View the third largest canyon, After viewing the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window. Return to your hotel for some time of leisure. Overnight at your hotel. (B)
Day 4 Wednesday – Mpumalanga / Kruger National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a portion of the day in search of the “Big Five” in the famous Kruger National Park. Kruger offers arguably the most exciting game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, elephants, rhinos and leopards, and lions. Observe predators chasing their prey and enjoying their kill in these surroundings. Overnight at your hotel. (B)
Day 5 Thursday – Mpumalanga / Swaziland
In the morning, begin your day with a drive to the Kingdom of Swaziland, a sovereign state in Southern Africa. It is neighboured by Mozambique to its northeast and by South Africa to its north, west and south. Visit the bustling craft markets in Ezulwini Valley. Arrive at your hotel. Enjoy a day at leisure. Day 6 Friday – Zululand
Today drive through Zululand to Umfolozi and Hluhluwe. This area is situated between the two Umfolozi Rivers where they divide into the Mfolozi emnyama to the north and the Mfolozi emhlophe to the south. Hluhluwe is situated on the elephant coast, an area known for its national parks, natural diversity and cultural heritage. Enjoy some time at leisure. Overnight at your hotel. (B)
Day 7 Saturday – Durban
Cruise on the beautiful Lake St. Lucia before departing for the coastal city of Durban. Hug the lush KwaZulu-Natal coastline en route to Durban, watching the sugar cane fields. Continue to Durban and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure by the coast. (B)
Day 8 Sunday – Port Elizabeth / Knysna
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight to Port Elizabeth. Upon arrival, start your exploration of the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park. Here we are treated to magnificent coastal views along with the breathtaking views of Tsitsikamma Forest. Late this afternoon we arrive in Knysna, the heart of the famous Garden Route. Overnight at your hotel. (BD)
Day 9 Monday – Knysna
After breakfast, cruise on Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon and beyond. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure exploring this unique town on your own. Overnight at your hotel. (BL)
Day 10 Tuesday – Oudtshoorn
After breakfast, begin your day underground for a tour of the Cango Caves. The principal cave is one of the country's finest. Continue to the spectacular Outeniqua Pass en route to Oudtshoorn, the ‘feather capital of the world’, aptly named for its ostrich industry. Visit an ostrich farm where you may have an opportunity to taste ostrich meat. Continue to your hotel for overnight. (BL)
Day 11 Wednesday – Cape Town
Today, enjoy breathtaking views along the highway as you travel to the coastal city of Cape Town. The city is famous for its harbour, for its natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region, as well as for such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Overnight at your hotel. (B)
Day 12 Thursday – Cape Town Peninsula
Today, enjoy touring of the Cape Peninsula. Visit a fishing village of Hout Bay, where you may have an opportunity to visit Seal Island on your own. Continue to Cape Point Nature Reserve and Boulders Beach to watch penguins play. On your return to Cape Town, stop in the naval Simon's Town, located on the shores of False Bay. Overnight at your hotel. (BD)
Day 13 Friday – Cape Winelands
Today visit the Cape Winelands, stopping at Paarl and Stellenbosch before wine tasting at two well-known estates. Pass by the infamous Huguenot Memorial Museum (built in 1967) and the Afrikaans Language Monument offering a historical perspectives. Return to your hotel. (B)
Day 14 Saturday – Cape Town
Today, say goodbye to the country that has hosted you as we transfer you to the airport for your return flight.
